Transitions and Secondary School
At St Thomas More we give much attention to the transition of children into our school, between the year levels and into secondary school.
We ensure there is strong communication between parents, teachers and children to make the sometimes-nervous time as smooth as possible.
There are many opportunities for parents to communicate with teachers regarding their children. Importantly, between school years, teachers meet to discuss the needs of the children in the new classes. The children also get time to be with their new teachers and class prior to the new year starting to help the children settle and not spend the holidays unsure about who their teacher is or who is in their class.
Children heading to secondary school have the opportunity to attend their new school for a transition day before the new year. Teachers at our school also give the secondary school important information about the children attending year 7. Many of our children go on to attend Padua College in Mornington.
