セイント トマス モーア 小学校 へ ようこそ！
Saint Thomas More Primary School he youkoso!
Welcome to St Thomas More Primary School!
At St Thomas More students from Prep to Year 6 learn Nihongo – Japanese.
Asia literacy is one of the cross-curricular priorities in the Victorian Curriculum, which reflects Australia’s connection with Asia in social, political, cultural and economic domains. By introducing our students to an Asian language we are helping to provide them with highly useful skills for the world in which they live.
Our Japanese program is designed to develop students’ communication skills in both written and spoken Japanese and to develop intercultural understanding, in order to understand the relationship between language and culture.
In our Japanese learning there is singing, playing games and use of gestures to help us develop oral proficiency and remember key language. Learning programs on the iPads and chrome books will be utilised throughout the year to maximise learning outcomes.
In addition to developing Japanese language skills, learning about significant Japanese culture, festivals and society will be included through video clips, craft activities, discussion and quizzes to promote intercultural understanding.
